Hey all.
EDIT - TANK IS 200L/50G
I have recently had a rather large blow in terms of my tropical fish. My heater blew whilst I was away for two weeks and ofcourse that was the time my town decided to have its coldest week all winter (Australia). Now I lost alot of my favourite fish and of course the ones that I dont really like survived (believe it or not I am happy some survived)
List of what I lost.
10" Pleco - Really sad to see this guy die he was starting to get into that bigger stage of his/her life and I had grown him for the last three years from just a bub.
5 Angels - In this lot there was a breeding pair that were successful numerous times at hatching but I never bothered to save them as I had nowhere for 100s of fry. These guys were rather large also about the size of my palm without their fins
3 Bristlenose - Again there were a breeding pair in there and they have been with me since the start of my tropical fish life.
2 Gouramis - These guys were only 6 months old or so but they were very very colourful fish shame to see them go.
20 or so neons - Im only sad as 20 fish died I didn really love them.
Guys that survived.
2 BlackWidow Tetras - How they survived I dont know, my outside pond was frozen when I got home so it could not have been much better inside (these are some tough fish)
5 very very ugly but very very strong platies - Again the worlds most invincible fish.
So after all that I have done a huge clean out of my tank. I am replacing all my filter media (it needed to be done anyway its been 2 years. I know thats bad ) and I have moved the survivors to another tank they will be fine in.
So what I need is some advice on some fish. I wont be buying them for a month or so as money wont allow for that long. I have removed all my gravel which was designed for plant growth as I dont really want to grow fancy plants anymore. So im going back to some basic gravel with alot of Java Fern and some swords.
I dont want the tank to be a community tank I want to stick to one type of fish. I would like to see some breeding happening but this is not essential. The plants can be removed if you guys think that maybe a fish that will just uproot them would be good im easy.
So there we are what do you all think.
P.S I do water changes every week if its relevant.
