So i was bored and read the ingredients in my fish food, and not much stuff in it is actualy food!

and i was wondering is it common for chlorine to be an ingredient?

as i was reading it my friend said my fish might start to glow in the dark!

What is the exact chemical? Not everything with chlorine is bad.

In fact, "chlorine" in water is typically in the form of hypochlorite or chloramine .

Could it be chloride? That's just a type of salt - sodium chloride is the salt we add to our food.

chlorine (chloride) - spelt out in that way is used to describe chlorine providing nutirents that are ingested in the form of chlorides - i.e. sodium chloride (table salt).

Free chlorine is harmful, but chlorine bound up in salts is essential to have in the body whether fish or human. Too much ofcourse is bad for you, but chlorine (bound in the form of salts) is used to regulate the amount of water in body cells, send nerve pulses, brain function and heart function.

I think with us humans, the chlorine in the sodium chloride (table salt) is not the harmful bit - its the excess of sodium that can do the harm. Thats why on listings it says satl, and then has sodium written below,
