Chlorinated Water

How come when my dad filled up the pond and now when he tops it up from the hose he doesnt have to dechlorinate the water?

I dont dechlorinate my pond either. Maybe with it being a large space the chlorine can dissipate quicker.

I know sunlight & heat burn off chlorine. I know some folks with swimming pools who have to add a lot of chlorine during hot sunny weather. This may have something to do with it, if they don't add enough their pool turns a nice green color.
