I have had my Chipokae for several months and he is kept in a tank with other cichlids malawi as well as s. american, thing is he has now decided to start digging and when I say digging this is on the scale of the Panama ! He's never been aggresive towards his tank mates. I have read various articles on this practice saying beware. Should I really start to become concerned ?

Digging is fine alot of times makes the aquarium look better and there aren't any good ways to stop it, the only danger is if the fish begins to undermine rocks, that's why you should always place rocks and ornaments in before the substrate

Hey there,

There's a device called a gravel tidy that can be used to prevent extensive digging - preventing a potential rock-falling accident. This would of course mean stripping down the whole tank :/

Cheers.
