hi

Can anyone tell me more about these , Info, Pictures etc etc.
I am looking out for one at this present time.

Thanks

Thanks

I am actually after the 'Green' climbing perch which is slightly more rare.

If you are just referring to a naturaly occuring Anabas testudineus morph (never heard any referred to as 'green' but I don't bother much with common names so I'm just assuming this is what you're after), then you can look up the 'ordinary' climbing perch for info - they'll have exactly the same requirements. There are many variations in color:

and you can see more in the second link from the previous post...

The main thing to say is that they do get quite large (I've seen them usually at around 8" - but they have the potential to grow bigger) and they can be aggressive towards each other and will eat small fish (they are predatory). They'll do fine in larger groups though if you don't only want one. They are also very good at jumping out of tanks so you need to have a good cover. Mind you, the idea that they 'climb' is probably a myth and, while they'll survive outside water for a while because of their labarynth organ, they are no more likely to last out of water for a significant period than an ordinary gourami. IME they eat everything but prefer live foods including larger ones like earthworms. I fed mine guppy and pearl gourami culls quite regularly and they were thoroughly appreciated. They don't do well with very aggressive tankmates but need to be with something that can handle a little aggression - preferably without retaliating.

I may think again......I have the Mafia in my Tank!

lol :p What have you got? And is that datnoid in your avatar yours? I love them!!!

Not that perticular one no but i have one at about 10 inches.
I also have the 10 inch Birchir and 3 shovelnoses about 12 inches long.

4 clown loaches 2 about 9 inches 2 about 6 inches.

The tiger and birchir have dust ups and the lema hit squad will rade any food of anyone if they bat an eyelid.

The loaches zip in and nick the food into hiding.

The birchir sniffs out all day long as he is so slow at feeding time he does not get a look in.
I even try to feed him with tongs but the lema hit squad are there as soon as that tip of the tong hits the surface unless the tiger is hungry and then its 'TIGER COMING THROUGH'

I see lol But none of those fish are really very aggressive. They are active and predatory though so a climbing perch could have trouble competing and it might have some problems with the datnoid over territory. Particularly since it'll be added late. Still, it could be kept with those tankmates if you let it grow out elsewhere and watched them all carefully afterwards.
