Are CAE's fin-nippers or do they attack in a different way???

They attack the slimecoating on fish. They feed on it, leaving the fish vulnerable to infections. They're also known for sucking the eyeballs out of the eyesocket. They leave the fins alone though

Chinese algae eaters are very effective at sucking the skin of it's tank mates. I use Chinese algae eaters to clean the shells of my turtles. When they were small my Fly River Turtles were prone to fungus infections. I used the Chinese algae eaters to clean off the fungus and dead skin. Works great!

They pretty much attack fish in the same way as they go about eating algae- they chase the fish around and try to suck onto its body.
