Hi,

With all the hot weather recentlyI have had problems keeping the tank cool. Was thinking of a chiller but have been advised that they pump out hot air to cool the water which then increases the room temperature which affects the tank.

Would welcome any advice on this.

Thanks

Yep you are right, they vent the hot air out and will warm the air up (No idea how much it will raise the temp), if you can they are best placed outside.

Have you tried any other cooling meathods, i used a fan connected to a habistat controller and it worked wonders,.

Yep, outside or in a different location is best.

If you have a full lid, think about replacing it with something like eggcrate during the summer. Fans will also help. I currently have 3 pounds of ice/frozen packs sitting in my sump that I change out as needed. Temperature doesnt get above 82F for me that way.

really that bad?? so far i've had about a week of use in my new chiller and it has been great so far!! i use a brand named ecoplus, not sure if u guys have heard of it. At the first 2-3 minutes it was on, there was a huge amount of heat coming from the radiator and i was slightly scared that this was normal. thankfully after those 2-3 minutes, it has been extremely quiet, really little heat and ultra-efficient!! the cool thing is that i put it under my stand beside the sump and there doesnt seem to be any negative change i've noticed so far.
