For some reason, one of my platies has a bump on her chest. The chest area as in between the mouth and belly area. Instead of it just going staight to the belly, there is a huge bump or point and it basically makes the fish look like a square with her head poking out of it... What is wrong with my platy?

Hi,
Maybe she about to give birth......... Common livebearers sort of square off when birth is imminent, Namely guppies, platties, mollies and swordtails. If you look just around the vent you will notice a grey or black area known as the gravid spot, A sign of developing live young.
Is the fish feeding and deporting correctly.
I do hope this is your case and nothing more sinister.
Regards
BigC

She is not going to give birth, as I bred other platies before. Its just that the front of her body looks like a square with her head poking out. I dont think I can get pictures soon.

Its not bacteria, maybe its a parisite, I doubt that though.

Internal bacterial infections can grow out and make bumps. If your so sure not what it is surely you can find out what it is? :good:

Well I didnt know there can be internal bacterial infections. That's weird.

Now, where the bump is, the scales are kind of popping out. Also, when the fish tries to eat, he spits the food right out.

if scales are pineconing and she is swollen then this could be dropsy a killer!!

wilder will no more though and how to help :good:

Build up of fluids once scales stick out organ failure.
All there left to do is epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out.
To be honest they rarely make it once scales stick out.

Ok, thank you, I havent had a fish with dropsy in a long time.

I would issolate her in a container at the top of the tank, as if the fish peck on the dead body it can spread that way.

Now that I look closer, her scales aren't really popping out. Just want to make sure she has dropsy, since she cant eat (spits out food when tries to eat) does that mean she definatly has dropsy with the bump?

Does the bump looks like it swollen with fluids, or hard to the touch.
Are you sure she not having babies.
Can she maintain her balance in the water.

A fish with dropsy will be swollen in the tummy region, also they show signs of inflamed red anus.
Popeye common with dropsy because of the build up of fluids.

Look under dropsy.
