Hi there

I got some fish a while ago and they had velvet unfortunately i didnt have a quarentine tank at the time so i just dumped them in the community tank
The fish started scratching and being all weird anyway in the end wilder helped sort out a treatment for them

So i had cherry's and amanos in my community tank and had to get all of them out , i took all the plants and ornaments out and caught all the shrimp i could see , i knew i wouldn't be able to catch all the shrimplets as they were too small

So after one white spot treatment and 3 velvet treatments (specifically states on box not suitable for inverts) i saw 2 little shrimp in the community tank today so they have managed to survive all the treatments , - one last treatment added to the tank last night just to make sure all velvet gone - fish are clear :)

How would they have survived is it because they were so small ? I certainly wouldn't risk it if i had to treat another tank with shrimp in but i do feel better that the poor things didnt all die

Thanks for reading Sarah xxxx

i thin kits possible that some species have the capability of becoming more tolerant to copper. they've got to be because some dechlorinaters dont remove copper from the water and people have kept shrimps in this. it could have been that they have been hiding in an ornament that doesnt have very good water flow, so they could have been exposed to very small amounts

Cherrys are one of the toughest dwarf shrimp, glad some of the shrimplets made it :good:

thanks hun
i saw an adult amano in there aswell today goodness knows where the little buggers were hiding but i think maybe inside the large slate(plastic) ornament
