Hi guys hoping some of you may be able to help.

I'm thinking of getting some cherry shrimp for my tank but not too sure if the current inhabitants would see them more as food or tank mates.

I have a 165 ltr tank (84 x 44 x 59 H cm) would currently describe it as medium planted, sand as substrate (approx 2" depth), external filter with spraybar and has a few hiding places.

The current inhabitants are 2x Rainbow fish (Boeseman's), 2x Ram (1 Bolivian 1 fire-mouth), 2x Upside down cat fish, 2x Opaline Gourami & 2x Kribensis (1 male 1 female)

would it be a good idea to introduce a few (5ish) cherry shrimp or would my fish think their just some extra large live food for them to munch on ?? therefore killing the shrimp or making them live in fear.

Any help, advice and experiences much appreciated !!!

Scott

I would say that the cat fish will eat them for sure. The gourami, kribs and rams will probably give them a try too if they are fully grown fish. My Rams have left my cherry shrimp alone so far but they are not yet fully grown and my chery shrimp have now breed to such numbers that even if they did start eatign them they wouldnt put a dent in the numbers.
