Cherry Shrimp Safe Loaches

I seem to have a LOT of snails in my tank and eas going to get some zebra loaches to take care of them (I like them too ). Talking to the guy at the LFS though and he said that they will likely make a meal of the cherry shrimp too.

The tank is 160L community tank that is very well planted. Anyone got experience of keeping loaches with cherry shrimp? Any recommendations?

I have about 12 cherry shrimp in my community set up with 2 Pakistani Loaches and they are no bother to them.

I would recommend having a good clump of plants for them to hide in though, especially when they are moulting.

i have zebra loaches in with amano shrimp, and every thing is fine, the loaches do not bother the shrimps

Cool thanks, I put my cherry shrimp in yesterday and now they have all vanished Its a heavily planted tank though and i think they are all hiding in one of the big bushy plants

IMHO there are no loaches safe to have with Cherry Shrimp. I have a school of 6 dwarf chain loaches in with my Cherry shrimp, and while the shrimp have survived, the loaches do try and snap at them semi-regularly, and very few shrimplets make it to adulthood.

I'm thinking I might skip the loaches

Thinking about the size of Cherry shrimp and the size of even small loaches I think the shrimp are going to look much to much like lunch.
