Ive just noticed in my tank, what seems to be half a transparent cherry shrimp. It has all the legs, head etc but no tail. Is the skin that they shed or is it the remains of one of my shimps? I've not noticed any of my fish attacking the shrimp, and as ive never seen the shed skin before im not sure what to look out for

90% it'll be the skin shed, I see this all the time from my shrimp.

Get a pic :)

Empty shell I'm guessing, they look exactly like the full ones, just empty.I think they use the empties for calcium,so leave it in there :good:

its over in one corner of the tank, so i just guess the shrimp felt more secure there to shed. i'll leave it in there and try do a count of shrimp

That`s definitely a shed skin, I should imagine the shrimp will eat that, apparently it`s meant to be a good source of food for them.

Mine are shedding loads but as long as they have plenty of places to hide they`ll be ok.

They`re extremely vulnerable right after shedding and that would be the time that they`re likely to get eaten unless they can hide somewhere.
