I noticed today that one of my cherry shrimp had an egg sack dangling behind her as she ran about the tank. Tiny yellow eggs. Later she's left them sitting in some rocks, or they got caught there, loosening from her. I've read that they could be unfertilized. That wouldn't surprise me as I suspect I don't have a male shrimp. The LFS was certain two I purchased were males, but I'm not convinced. I've also read that if they were fertilized eggs that were somehow pulled loose of otherwise abandoned, you could possibly hatch them still by collecting them in a net and hanging them under the filters water flow. I'm trying that.

Any advice or thoughts as to what is most likely?

I have never seen eggs pulled loose from a female, they are usually kept between her swimmerets. But I have seen a shed skin with a few unfertilised/dead eggs inside.

You can try hatching them, I have no idea whether or not it will work.
