Cherry barbs

I have a spare 7 gallon and it's killing me to look at it just sitting there! I've always wanted cherry barbs, they seem so cute!

How would 3 cherry barbs do in a 7 gal with some plastic plants, some java moss and java fern?

Presonally that sounds like a very reasonable setup to me. Cherry Barbs are cute little things!

Hi,

Great idea, the only advice I would give is try and get a pair rather than 3 as they tend not to shoal unlike other barbs and are especially suitable for keeping as a single pair.

They look even better once adults, the males take on a deep cherry red, females go brownish-red.

Yes, be sure to get a sexed pair, or a trio 1m 2f, 2 males together in a small tank are likely to fight.

I think I might get a pair... that means I can have an apple snail! I love those little things, however boring some people say they are.
