I have six cherry barbs that have been in my tank since May of 2008, over the last few days about five of them have developed what looks like fin rot, but on its tail fin only, my water parameters is all good, however I have been upsetting the tank a lot more over the last week or so and don't know if this might have caused a change that they don't like. I am unsure what to do. I don't know if age would affect them all at the same time so not sure what is going on.

Just to let you know, your fish might die soon. :( Good thing you caught it early, though.
some aquarium salt can be added to the tank. If the treatment is working you should notice a significant improvement in your fish in a few days. Within a week there should be no signs of fin rot left. However if left untreated your fish may become very sick and eventually may pass away.Do water changes offen, every second day...
Try the aquarium salt first.
Dont add chemicals yet, that would be your last resort

What do you mean my fish might die soon?

I have already added a chemical, King British w something or other it is called. I am not keen to add any salt to the water as I have two plecos which obviously are scaleless and I am unsure how this will affect them. One looks like it is going to die tonight, I am gutted really as I have had them such a long time. I am stumped as no other fish (at the moment) is affected.

Are people always this slow at responding to request for help or is it that my fish aint worth it?

I have sucessfully healed a rather stubborn strain of finrot using Esha 2000 recently.

Thank you, I will go look that up. Five of them are now gone to a watery grave..... I wished I knew what caused it :(
