Checking On Hiding Fish

I have a catfish, frog, and loaches (not all in the same tank) that love to hide. When I feed them I like to do a head count and check on everyone. Should I look for the ones hiding to make sure they are all right or should I keep looking on and off during the day to maybe catch a glimpse of them. The catfish comes out only at night after we go to bed . I have tried to sneak a look after we have went to bed and sometimes I can catch him and sometimes I can't. What do you do?

I think you are spot on about the cat fish. Some people on here have said that they feed their fish (the ones that are freely swimming around the tank) at their usual time but when lights go out they pop in a few sinking wafers to feed the catfish.

They should generally come out after a while...they are buggers to hide though!!
