I'm planning a 200L+ tank and would like to keep some Checkerboard cichlids and possibly some Apistos. Has anyone kept these two fish together? I'm just a little worried that the Apistos may be a little the territorial for the Checkerboards.

I have kept chequerboards and they are a fanatstic little fish and dart around the tank looking great. I would only keep 1 pair of apistos with them in that size tank but you coulsd add rams and maybe some rummy nose tetras or black neons. Trimar aquatics in Cornwall is a great mail order place for your chequerboards and they only charge £10 delivery, you will find them if you type Trimar aquatics into your search engine and ask for Monty.

They should both mix well. Apistos tend to dwell nearer the bottom, and checkerboards near the middle.
I would get a pair of checkerboards and one male apisto with two females with seperate caves.

Cheers guys I was thinking of having a small group of checkerboards 4 or 6 as they seem to be quite active and not territorial, and a pair or trio of apistos would this be ok?
