should I use a check valve on a nutrafin co2 system if I am using my own ingredients. Also will a check valve decrease the output flow because when I had an air pump with a check valve the bubbles decreases when I put a check valve on.

I used to have one inline as I read somewhere on here that it would stop the white fluff build up in my diffuser. True to tff it was good advice! (should I have ever doubted this forum). With regards to the flow, I probably bought the cheapist and nastiest I could find, and apart from waiting a little longer for the bubbles to flow through, once the pressure had built up it was fine. I would recommend it.

I found that the Co2 came in spurts a little bit more, but the output I believe is roughly the same. The check valve tends to wait until a level of pressure is built up, then the valve opens and shoots out some more co2.. It then waits for the build up again, but it doesn't take long.

I would definately recommend it. I had not done the top up quite enough, and the tubing then started to syphon the water from my tank back into the cannister, then dribbled out onto the floor. I must have had a few bucket loads of water spreading across the carpet in the lounge before i noticed, so for me it's a must.

Hope that helps.

it wont stop the foam stuff, you will need a in line seperator to do that,if you use the search feature on here you should find diagrams explaining how to make your own
