The tank has 2 glass sliders but I'm gonna be keeping tropical and dont want the light just lying on the glass whats cheap and easy way to mek a lid so the light can stay under it just above the glass sliders? cheers

Plywood would do, mdf has a risk if it will expand in the higher humidity like a sponge. I may a quick temporary roof out of some clear binder sheets like used in these:

i have a 10 gallon tank

i bought it without a cover

so i used double layers of cardboard, duct taped the edges and then taped a layer on the whole bottom side so that the water from evaporation and stuff wouldnt get the cardboard wet...

works well, sturdy..

i have my lamp sitting on top of it, i mad a cutout the size of the light tra and for the filter.. also made a flap to open and feed the fish.. works good :good:

theres a thread here somewhere, about a lighting cover made out of a piece of guttering pipe,( with pipe ends used for the end bits) lined with foil, running 2x energy saving bulbs, painted black, and it looked really good, cant remember how the feet looked to cleip on the side of the tank tho
