Why should I tell you?
I would like to make a cheap quarantine/hospital facillity. I havent got a hospital tank, or a quarantine tank :( I am on a budget of £20. What can I do? Could I get one of them cheap 4 gallon buckets and add a small blucompact filter or something?
How much do blucompact filters cost?
I need help!!!

A bucket is kind of deep, you could get one of those plastic tupperware sort of bins. If you have an air pump, keep a sponge filter cycled in one of your tanks. All you need then is a heater. When you need to use it, fill it up, add the heater, cycled sponge filter, & fish. Just make sure the heater doesn't touch the plastic.

Not sure if you can get them there in the UK, but here in North America, you can buy a Rubbbermaid or similiar brand tote box at most hardware stores and Walmart and stores like that. I bought my 20G tote box for $6, and although I only use it for aging water for my water changes, I know of a few people that use it for hospital tanks. They have many other sizes there, at reasonable prices...

A big advantage is that for the price of a 20G aquarium, you could buy a much larger tote box. But remember to take into account that you'll need more medicine the more water your Hospital/QT tank can hold...

Be careful if you decide to use a heater, as it might melt/disfigure the box. Use a HOB filter, and you're all set. Sure, you won't be able to see the fish, but for the price... Another disadvantage is that you can't cover the top or else it'll mean total darkness for the fish, and although I know that's good to reduce stress, I'm not sure what'll happen if you continue to house the fish there for long periods (more than a week, or even few days)

HTH.

Argh!!! So close.... :D Shouldn't have wasted my time trying to find a good pic of a tote box... :X

Hahaha! My 2 fingers start to type faster when I start thinking about doing things on the cheap.

I've heard of lots of ways to make quick, cheap tanks. One old timer used to use army surplus field bathtubs. They had a foldable frame with a big rubber liner. 70 gallon tank for a couple of bucks.

My favorite is from a guy who owns his own shop now. He would go to the junkyard, & pull the plastic liners out of old refrigerators. He got them for free, as the junkyard wants the metal for scrap. He siliconed up the few small holes, put them on cinder blocks, filled up his parents basement with these things.

I bought a hospital tank with everything encluded for 50$ at wal-mart

Around here (Minnesota), a new 10 gallon tank is around $10. Check Goodwill or other secondhand stores for used tanks. They sometimes have them.

Rubbermaid and other plastic containers often come in a clear variety.
