Hi there guys,
I visited my old shop Porton Pet and Aquatics yesterday, and guess what they had on special offer??? D&D pressurized CO2 kits, was £109 now £75. They have a few... I managed to get my discount again (YES!) so the d&d kit cost me £63.75. I wasn't going to buy pressurised for a while and was trying to convince my parents to buy it for me for xmas... But at these prices I'd be crazy not to. This is for my new tank that I got at the FoF btw.

I know what the following things are because I hear people talking about them, not necessarily because I know what they are /what they do.
It came with a disposable CO2 bottle, regulator, needle valve, solenoid (which I might not use from the sounds of it), 2m of CO2 tubing, a bag of rowaphos and a diffuser. Do I need anything else? I'm thinking maybe a bubble counter and a diffuser, I assume the supplied one is pants.

If anyone wants one but can't make it to salisbury I might be able to get one for you and send it to you, but the cost of postage might not make it a very good deal! Best bet is to go to Porton. They do have quite a wide range of products, good range of fish (many many tanks) and a poor selection of plants... But the plants are tropica for £2.50. Yesterday they had some bacopa carolinia (sp), moss balls, anubias not sure which one but they were about 6" x 6", hygrophilia something thai stricta, diplis diplis and several others. Doesn't sound like much but with the cheap prices its well worth the visit. They had absolutely gorgeous cardinal tetras 5 for £6.00.

A bubble counter is a bubble counter, I use the one from the same kit and it is fine - bubbles-per-min is objective anyhow, what you need is not what others would need even with almost identical tanks.

Sorry, when I said supplied one I meant the diffuser, as everyone seems to buy new ones. I don't think I have a bubble counter in the set...

I mean more, I have no idea how to plumb the reg/canister/bubble counter together... I'm sure it's quite easy, but since reading that warning about the dangerousness of the canisters I'm quite wary... -_- I also have no idea how to get the thing set up to make just bubbles etc, again it's probably common sense but I'd rather err on the side of caution than blow my head off or even worse damage my rented accommadation  plus I'm a woman so logic and common sense aren't my strong points!!! j/k

Hi Lisa :)

You might find the following thread useful, not the same kit but all the kits work in the same way.

Re the diffuser, people tend to change from the supplied one, as the kit ones tend to be pretty bulky and ugly. Glass diffusers are very common these days, personally I love them. Easy to maintain and clean and cheap, only slight issue is they do break fairly easily so be careful with it. Aquaessentials do a fair few. There isn't much to chose between the cheapo ones, as far as I can tell you have to spend a lots (i.e. ADA beetle) to get any really difference from a 5quid one.

Cheers Sam :good: just had a quick skim, I'm in a real hurry but thought I'd say cheers for the link...

Managed to sell a few bits and bobs, so now have some moolah for the new tank, YAY!!!

I don't want to rub it in but I just got one for £35

Same kit, same problem - don't have a clue how to set it up. How did you get on lisa?
