Not necessarily the specific brands and modles (thought that would help), but these things claim to be 75 gallons per day or higher, portable, and some for under a hundred bucks. I can't install an under sink one in my apartment, so I need something portable, but this sounds fishy for the price. Does anyone know if these cheaper portable units are any good?

Thanks a million.

Okay. I got an answer to that. It should be fine. Another followup question, though, is if I were to pump out 35 gallons of it in a new, cleaned garbage can and put a lid on it, would it be fine for a long time, like bottled water, so I could just dip from that, or should I filter it fresh with each water change and/or tasty gulp of it?

If you store it in a cool dark place..it should be fine. I store 2 jugs, 2.5 gallons each, for topoff and store 5 gallons of SW (ages it). SH

Thanks!

After you get it from the RO filter, do you still treat it with any kind of dechlorinating solution or anything like that? Or just add salt?
