Can you get filter media that is compatible for the eheim pro ll not made by eheim, ie cheaper?

Does anyone make their own?

I've been using kitchen scourers from wilkos, 20 for 99p. I rip off the scourer part and cut the sponge to fit in the filter. Has been working great the past few months :)

I was looking for cheaper filter wool really as thats what you change more often, but ideas on getting the foam cheaper as well would be great.

the best value for money filter wool i've found is made by Sera
£6.40 for 500g /1.1lbs.
other than that buy pond filter wool mats and cut to size

The sera filter floss or pond floss is a good polisher

For bio-media I use alfa grog, costs $12 for 25kgs and is as good a filter media as any ( biorb use it for their filter media )

I use pond sponge for the filter trays, just cut it down to size

thanks guys, that'll save quite a lot of pennies! Ill give it a try.
