I came home to find my Red Flame Dwarf Gourami acting very strange. He was spinning ar.ound and around like a puppy chasing his tail. He stopped and swam up to the top of the tank as soon as I dropped food in and ate. Then went right back to spinning around again! Please can someone tell me whats wrong with him? :(

Maybe Stress?

I don't see any reason for him to be stressed out about anything. There's no new additions and no changes within the tank. I do have another male dwarf but he's very submissive to this one that's sick. I've only had him for two months and he and a couple of angles are my newest additions I got them at the same time, and the angels and other fish are all O.K.

Also tested my water Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20 Usually it's about 10 (tested last nite)l
Just did my usual 20% weekly change on Sunday, but last nite did 20% again and nitrate is back to well under 10

Any one else seen this before? he's still doing it and I'm getting really worried.

How is he today? Has he stopped doing this? I've never seen this before in a gourami but I have had fish with swim bladder problems and the like that behaved very unusualy. Having said that, gouramies don't often get swim bladder diseases (unless he has/had a bacterial infection).
