Characodon Sp...............

I've been given a few pics to show and just wandering what species (location if u dare) u think they are.

And now a female.

Personally, I think it is a bit of a non starter to try and identify the Characodon species as the differences between some of them are so slight and the meristics seem to be the same. There really is no alternative but to make sure you maintain the species separately and keep hold of the data.

Your exactly right Duncan, Knowing the collection data is very important when working with wild fish.
How ever I'm just wanting wanting to see what anyone else thinks they are.

I wasn't teaching you to suck eggs Alan, I know you already know that, I meant that with Characodon, if you don't have the collection data you are completely lost. You may be able to tell the difference between Characodon audax and lateralis, but between the various species / collection locations, I defy anyone but maybe Juan Miguel Artigas Aziz to be able to say with even 75% certainty.

Do you already know where they are from and you are asking people to guess? Or do you not know?

If we are guessing then I would go for Amado Nervo!!!
