can anyone tell me a bit about minimum tank size temp diet etc...basically what these guys need? done a bit of googling but find a lot of the webs info conflicting, one site says they happily eat flake food....am guessing thats a bit of bull?

also what is a good price for these fish? i need to put a bid down for them but dont wanna go too high/low?

there is three available....all 15cm (if that info helps!) can 3 live together? dont know if they are male or female?

rainbows grow to be about 8"
you may have a tough time getting them to eat flakes, though im sure with training you could get them on sinking carnivore/ massivore pellets.

like what bitteraspects say's you might be able to get them on pellets my channa marulia does now and then but i find prawns, mussles, squidrings and fish get eaten well ,they also like cover like floating plants and planted too and hidie holes ive just put loads of big plants floating around making quite a thick covering at the surface and he seems to really like that lol but the giant gourami keeps trying to eat it all lol
Nelly, dave oddballs and kariguppi are good to talk to about snakeheads too t hey know alot

if you need any specifics, let me know and i can ask the man himself for you. (the guy they are named after that is)

Well i have managed to train all my babie channa ornatipinnis to eat flake food but the adults wont touch flake,
sent the good link and exsplained everything for you, subtropical and a 3foot for a pairs good, rocks for hiding / well planted...

hey bitteraspects..do you know Heiko Bleher,Deepak Nopany who discovered it and J.Vierke who evaluated it?

all my snakeheads have eaten sinking pellets, the bleheri definitely did. if you struggle you just stop feeding them for a day or so, wait for them to start foraging about for food constantly, then you throw them in, they will eat them eventually when they find out its all their getting. sometimes they just take them and sometimes it takes a bit of persistence.
good luck, they are a very nice snakehead!

i only keep in contact with heiko.
He just got back from the czech republic, so I should be hearing back from him in a couple of days.
I do not know the other two. Sorry nelly :(

well my dream may be dashed :(
put a bid down of €60 and the guy mailed me this morning basically saying the bid was ridiculous and he wanted at least €40 per fish, no way can i get €120 together this week (and to be honest i think thats a bit too much to pay, no matter how badly i want them, i didnt mind paying that bit extra..but thats a bit out of my league) :( what a blooming shame.....so the search continues. my fella has said we gonna drive up to antwerp or brussels at the end of october and check out the huge fish stores up there :( really effing down now, shouldnt have got me hopes up i guess.

could always write to father christmas i suppose and see if he'll bring it me for christmas

€40 per fish! they are some beautiful Channa Bleheri in the local garden centre by me for £10 each...

are Channa that difficult to get hold of on the continent?

no idea, have only tried 'local' shops, off to try in the capital end of october.....fingers crossed eh?

Shame you can't find them, they are great looking channa and real easy to keep.
My pair have never eaten flakes, but when they bred I tried to feed the fry crushed flakes (among other stuff) they weren't to interested.
Shame you are not in Asia, I could have sent you a whole load of fry!

If you do manage to get yourself a pair, get yourself breeding. Trust me, Bleheri are real easy to breed.

Here is an (old) phot of my male:
