Changing vover gravel ?

Hi all,

I have had my tank runninf for about 4 weeks now, have fish in it etc etc

Anyway since i've had it running and purchased a sucker fish i have noticed the black gravel doesnt work well with the black sucker (pleco). Would i be able to do a switch for some white gravel (i have here) or am i risking loosing the fish etc ?

What should i do ? as i really want the white gravel in there now !

You can change the substrate of a tank, plenty of people do, though usually from gravel to sand.

I think there was a topic a while back where some kind soul gave a kind of step by step guide. Have a search and see what you get.

Also, consider the fish - you may have to rehouse them while you are doing it, so make sure you have the time and space!

Whats the tank size and type of pleco?

Anyway, back to topic, since its been running for about 4 weeks and should be cycled, the gravel will probably hold a fair few bacteria so you might get a mini cycle. But not nessecarily.
