i am going to change over from malawi to tanganyika and was wondering basics?any help with environment and
chosing fish will be appreciated

the tank i will put them in is 55 gallons by the way

Hey Fish x 3

It depends on what species of tanganyika fish (shelldwellers, tropheus, calvus, fonts ...etc.) you are looking to stock. If you have a picture of your existing Malawi setup with some tank details, we would be better able to direct you on what to change. For the most part you shouldn't really have to change anything.

tanks

well i was planning on not having a species tank.more like a mixed.not like tanganyika and malawi but like a tank with a whole bunch of different kinds

also can shelldwellers go with the normal ones

in a 55 you could put, a colony of shell dwellers, an adult pair/ small group of juvie julidochromis, a group of rock dwellers such as lamprologus leleupi or calvus, and a group of synodontis. I think you could put tropheus in there too, but someone can correct me if i'm wrong.

thanks

greg

In a 55 I'd make the new inmates will be no larger than 3 inches (full grown). You also don't want N. Brichardis and N. Brevis fighting over the same plot of the bottom. Sure one uses shells but shells tend to be on the bottom and they will fight over the bottom. I did hope my N. Brichardis, Pulcher "Daffodils", N. Helianthus use more of the rock works but they didn't. So the rock works will house N. Leleupi, Julidochromis (don't know which but I like the yellow ones  ) when I move all the current inmates out to a larger tank. Just make sure your "Mix" is a good blend and not some tank of body count :good: .
