Changing media

Hi All

Is it possible to put sand on top of the gravel in my planted tank, I have gravel but I think things would be more anchored if I changed to playsand..............how would you go about it if it is possible?

I think it would be better to completely swithch the gravel with sand. However, sand can be very difficult to deal with, or, it can be very easy. If you decide to completely change it, be careful, there tends to ba a load of gunk under the gravel.

There have been a couple of great threads about changing from gravel to sand. Mixing them now would be kinda a waste as the sand will go through your gravel and leave your old gravel on top. The bacteria on your gravel is a good thing so getting rid of all of it at once could lead you to a mini cycle. Try using the search section to find out how others did it.
