hey guys i have african cichlid setup with sand and coral, i have a gravel change no coral just pebbles and did a 100% water change.I am setting up a community setup, the only fish i will be having in new setup in a bristle nose. My question is how long can the bristle nose survive in a bucket and will there be bacteria in my filter to make the bristle nose survive in new tank setup????? i have also added in live bacteria out of a bottle.

If the filter is out of another cycled tank then it will have the good bacteria in, as long as it hasn't been out of the water for too long. If you have a completely uncycled filter / tank then you need to think about a temporary re-homing of the fish while you cycle the tank properly. A bucket will soon cool down and will definitely be very unpleasent for the fish after more than a few hours.

You're planning on putting coral in a fresh water set up?

My filter has is cycled, and has been off for about 1h 30mins, i have kepted the bucket in a warm area. I had coral in my cichlid setup i have taken it out for my community setup. I am now waiting for my tank to warm up before i put my bristle nose back in. It's currently on 15degrees, what can it handle????

First of all, get the filter in the tank, the longer you leave it without water moving in through it, the more bacteria you will lose. If you have just done a 100% water change, why not add a couple of kettle fulls of hot water to speed the heating process up? As long as you add more de-chlorinator to the water, adding hot water will not cause any problems for the fish, although I don't know about coral (although I have never heard of freshwater coral before!). The important thing is not making the transition from one temperature to another too big a change, give the plec plenty of time to adjust to the change in temparture from the bucket to the tank.

Ok i have put the fish in to the tank hopefully it will be ok, and hopefully i didn't lose much bacteria.

What temp does bacteria survive on?? and also if the bristle nose enough to keep the bacteria going? i will be waiting about a week or so before i put in some plants & then some fish. That cool?
