Hi all, have just bought a Fluval 2 plus to swop out the filter that came with the tank, have done this for several reasons

The 3 stage filter that came with the tank I cannot find spares, media or any info about it (throughput etc)

Wanted a spare filter on hand

The filter that came with the tank has unsightly pipes going in and out of the tank

Want to put the light on a timer but cannot do so because one mains plug supplies light and filter

Anyway, the tank is about halfway through a cycle, what would be the best practice to swop over the filter - I'm concerned that the bio-media may be established.

Is there any problems running the 2 filters in the tank for a couple of weeks?

Ta....

Easiest way would be to just run the pair of them for a month.

Thanks... Think I may have made a little mistake, the tank I have is a 68ltr

The filter I currently run is made by AA - Aquariums and has 3 stage filtration, the water goes into 3 compartments, first one being bio-rings, next one sponge and charcoal then one filled with air

Did not realise the Fluval 2 Plus only has sponge filters but has a higher throughput of water

Based on this, which one should I keep?

Doh :S

If you don't like the current filter the fluval 2+ will quite happily handle 68 litres. I have one in my cold water tank and with a black background it totally dissapears! :good:
