Apologies if this is a common question - I have done a search but can't find any relevant threads.
We have an established tank currently running an Interpret PF2 filter. The filter has become dodgy of late - every now and then it'll stop and we have to take it apart to get it going again. Now we're going on holiday for a fortnight and I obviously don't want to leave the tank with the dodgy filter.
My plan was to get a new PF2 filter and simply swap the foams and ceramic rings out into the new one. But OH went to the shop - couldn't get a PF2 so came back with a Fluval 2. Can I do the same with this? It doesn't have the same ceramic shapes or foams so I'm not sure if it works in the same way?
The advice I've found so far suggests to run both filters simultaneously for a while to allow bacterial to build up in the new one, but that seems a bit pointless when I already have established filters if they will work.
Very grateful for any advice from someone who knows a bit more about this than I do!
Thank you!
