Changing Filter?

I am currently Running an Aquarline Aquarclear 3 and its rather poor... I have ordered a Fluval 4+ and it should be here tomorrow. What should i do when i get it? Run both for a few days then remove the old one or take the sponge out the old filter and leave it in the water or what?

Once you get the new filter stick it in the tank with the old one still running and let them run together for about 2 weeks then remove the old filter but it might be a good idea to keep the old filter in another tank if you can so if the tank trys to go through a cycle you can put the old one back in. Also once you remove the old filter be sure to moniter the water stats for a couple weeks to make sure it isn't going through a cycle.
