Changin Gravel. Would Like Your Ideas..

Im changing my gravel. At the mo its black, and makes the tank look really dark. I want to find some fine gravel, in small pieces, say 2-3 mm. Either that or sand, but i have plants and recognise rooting probs. Do you have any ideas, know any links etc.
Im really open minded about what i could do with it........

I love the looks of black tanks. How about going lighter with the rocks and plants in the tank? What color fish do you have in there?
