Change Of Direction

Hi all,
been keeping a communal set up for 3 years or so now and have decided that the time is right for a change. I would like to move over to keeping cichlades. The tank is 165L with lots of decor, both plants (plastic) and caves and is filterd by an under graval as well as an inhood filter (aqua 850).The present fish stock will be given to my son so that i can start again except for the plec and the water which has a ph of around 7.Can people please give me some ideas as to a good combination of fish to keep in this tank.Colour and activity are both important.

If that]'s about a 40g tank I reckon to get the best combination and numbers of fish, you would be best to go for dwarf cichlids, say apistogrammas/rams (American) or kribs etc from the African dwarfs. They all have beautiful colours and with a pH of 7 you could add some bogwood to just lower that slightly to give them optimum conditions. Add some live plants - lovely!

if you want to breed them then fast moving fish that arnt small enough to fit in there moths like bigger tetras rainbow fish
if it wa me i would get 2 trios of dwarf cichlids like rams and apisto that are smaller and much less agressive and you could keep alot more difrent fish with them
