thinking of changing my blue background poster for a solid black one as I think it will show of the colours better. I have African cichlids and plants that are nice colours but I think that the aquarium is so light (rocks and background) that it is kinda taking away the beauty.

Black will usually bring out the best of the colours from plants and fish

I think that if ever it should happen the only time I'd have a blue background in a tank belonging to me would be if I was to chance my arm at a Marine setup!  Black, will show up every little bit of floating and suspended debris so you need to be on-top of your filtration

Yeah I've had enought problems with floaty bit and blooms lol but I'm managing feeding better and got some new filter pads corse medium and fine for my external so looking clean.

As I done a water change today I'm gonna wait till next Friday to change background as I need to move tank forward. Last time I used juwel poster glue and have to say it made a difference. Have you ever used it?

Not Jewel, but have used JBL and Marina versions, had one failure and that was due to initially refilling the tank (without fish in) with hot water this blebbed the background that I'd just spent ages getting all the trapped air out of :(

Somehow, I like it when my tank has particles floating in it.
I think it makes it look natural.

Lol it's a messy job right . My current one I done with tank in position full of water so had about 6 inch gap to get my arm down to scape air out. Took me all day long. Won't make that mistake again.

Do you think ebay/online will be cheaper for the background compared to lfs? Also worried I'd be visiting all the shops trying to find a black background. Don't know if they are commen or not

I'd go with it on certain setups. I saw a neon tetra set up at London zoo that had misty dirty looking water. Looked very natural I liked it

could just open out a black binbag against the back of the tank
will look just as effective :)
