Chain Sword Daughter Question

I'm letting one of my chain swords grow out the daughter plants as long as possible. Will they eventually detach on their own or will I have to cut them off the stem?

I've cut them off once the roots are established enough, but you can also take the little stem and just anchor the daughter plant to the substrate and still have it be connected to the mother plant. Both work.
