I have recently converted my real planted tank into a plastic planted tank. ATM I have gold barbs, platies, harlequin rasboras and swordtails. What I am after is something that can live on its own, be a little bit larger than the other fish, not a catfish, and be a nice "centrepiece" addition to the tank.

I thought of an angelfish or a gourami....but thats all i could come up with.

The tank will eventually have a bnose catfish in it (once I can evacuate it out of the rocks in the 75gal)

Any ideas?

A pair of dwarf cichlids?

Yeah, a good quality apistogramma cacatuoides triple red is a stunning fish and they are one of the easier apistos to look after and are usually quite easy to find.

a gourami would probably be nipped at by the barbs...

how about a rainbowfish?

Couldn't put angelfish in the tank because of the barbs.

He could put angelfish in there because he only has gold barbs. Gold barbs are like cherry barbs and not really fin nippers. But if he had tiger barbs that would be a whole different story.
