Hey everyone
smile.png

It's my first time here, I have a friend who is really into this site and has gotten me interested in it.

Now, my question is what is a good centrepice fish for a 55gal tank? The dimensions are 122, 38, 45 (cm). No idea on the water PH and Hardness.

Current stocking is 8 albino cories and 12 rummynose tetra. It is moderately planted and has been up and running for about 6 months.

There is too much surface movement for gourami. My mother really wants an angelfish but I'm not sure if one would work as the tank really isn't that tall.  It needs to be rather common as the petshop here is pretty small.

Any suggestions?

to TFF! Hope you enjoy it here.

Tank sounds lovely so far, though I might be biased since my 55 also has albino cories & rummynose tetras

My centerpiece was a golden gourami, but you say that's out. I now have a gold angel.
I -think- your tank is tall enough for an angelfish but may want to wait on someone more experienced to comment about those.

Is there a certain level of the tank you want your centerpiece to be at? If you don't mind bottom dwelling centerpieces then something like rams, apistos, or peacock gudgeons might look nice.
You want plenty of hiding places though in case the rams breed, have heard they can get territorial and cories could get into trouble because of that. Don't know if it applies to the apistos or peacocks though.

I'd recommend picking up a test kit btw, and I'd love to see a picture of your tank

Is it a non standard 55?
Standard is 122x33x51.

As for your present stocking, if the Rummies are mature an Angel should be fine. They will snack on younger/smaller Rummies, but adults are a bit large.

Rummys and Cories are a great little combo

love gourami but with the air stone and spray bar, there's just a little too much surface movement for them. I'll work on getting a decent photo of it!

Yes, it's a not standard tank. The Rummies are pretty big so I think they're mature or at least close to it.

Mum will be happy to hear that she can possibly get an angel, I've been saying no for weeks

What's wrong with Angels, I love mine. Even when they try my patience.
Love gouramis too.
And anyone who doesn't like corys can't be trusted.

I just wasn't too sure if we could have one, considering the height of the tank and the current stocking. They are quite nice honestly
