No idea, from memory, the best chances of success relies on feeding them fruit flies and insects.

Yeah, I have a Few Peices of Meat with maggots in ATM for them to munch, and will be getting some fruit flies off ebay.

From memory, the main issue with halfbeaks is that they are scooped up and kept in big vats in Asia and you can never be 100% sure what species you have. You might have Celebensis of possibly liemi, you can never be sure.

There have been a few different halfbeaks around over the last few years, I remember some pogognathus coming up in an auction about 2 years ago, but nothing for a while.

I did buy some big celebensis a few years ago, but they were dead by the time I got them home as they were too big for transit really.

The Ones i have are dark silver with Black Spots on the Dorsal and Tail. they have been eating well and all have fat bellies. Also they have Whiskers at the tip of there mouths

WHat other fish do you have in with them?

Celebs are meant to be kept just in a tank on thier own with no other fish except thier own spcecies.

Sorry where did gleam this peice if rubbish from.

Celebes do very well in a Heavily planted community, they are shoaling with the Panchaxs' other Killiefish.

You do need to be careful of what fish you keep with them, but they don't have to have a species tank.

No tiger barbs or boisterous fish, but Panchax will be very similar in behaviour and should be fine.

thanks, will take some today, getting more aswell, want some males

Rubbish?

nice attitude ;) just bcause someone points something out, right or wrong your tone was uncalled for.

Celebs are not to be put with some commuity fish as they have been known to attack and kill other small fish.

It is recomended to put them in thier own tank due to them liking very fast water movement in the lowe level of the tank.

Also they should be put in ratios of 1 male to very 2-3 females and kept in groups of 5 or more.

okies no probs, but i use to breed these and made the mistake of putting livebearers (mainly guppies) in with them and i seen them attack and kill them..

Might of just been mine was very agressive but once again, you may not be a noob but definitly one o out...

your attitude stinks m8

I was just pointing out that past experince shows with some smaller fish they can be agressive thats all;

Now now guys, play nicely.

The thing I try and remember is that, although we are posting, there could well be plenty of other newbies that are too scared to post, but would benefit from the advice.

Heres some Pix, they all looking sooo sooo nice, all have fed on mealworms and grubs and maggots. Fruit flies should be here by the end of the week so can get my little fly farm going.
