Do our long tailed friends like them?

If so what's a good solution to one. In my tank I've got some rocks making a bridge but you can "swim" through it if you're Betta sized...

Am I right in thinking they like them near the surface so they can breath, and sleep in them?

Or did I just make that all up?

Here is a pic of a bridge in one of my bettas tanks.. He seems to like it and he rests on top of it from time to time.. So yeah I guess they like caves and hidey holes..Aslong as the holes are big enough for them to get in and out...

mine have coconut caves in their tanks-they seem to like them. My MGCT boy likes to hide in his and then ambush me when I'm looking in his tank lol.

He would like to think he's an attack betta.

My boys seem to love anything they can swim into. An interesting thing I did was use a plastic party cup for a planter for some aquatic plants I bought, I half filled it with gravel from my community tank and planted a plant in the cup. I think its called Lobelia Cardinalis and grows like a little tree with aerial roots, my betta "Comet" swims into the cup and under the leaf's, so he can swim around in the shelter of the plant and because the cup is clear he can see through as well. I also took a plastic rectangular "pot", really it was a package for something I bought, and added gravel to it and then planted some stem plants in the back corners of it, a tiny jave fern in the middle background and then made a bed of java moss across the front of it. it sort of looks like a bonsai garden, I put this in my other betta's tank and Ray loves sleeping on the java moss at night. I ran out of java moss but found some at the local store so I bought two bundles of it and took one bundle and got a shallow but wide mouth glass cup and added a little gravel to it and made a bed for Comet as well, now both of my boys have java moss beds and things to swim into, and under. I do add a little fertaliser to both of my betta tanks to keep the plants healthy, they're tanks sit on a tall dresser in front of my bedroom window and I use a small bubble filter in both tanks to keep the water cleaner longer, both tanks are glass 5 gallon tanks and stay clean enough and stable enough so that I never have to drain the tanks completely, so i can treat it more like a regular tank and not stress out the fish. When i do do a major water change the boys have learned to just swim into the cup and wait it out, I can literally drain the tank out completly without having to take my boys out of their tank since they just chill out and watch in the safetly of their planters, as i refill the tank and the water levels reach the rim of the planters they just swim back out like nothing happened at all. It seems much safer on the little guys as I dont have to move them, catch them etc. I'm sure if you looked around the house you can find all sorts of cool things to add or make to make your bettas life a lot more fun.
