I assume you are speaking of corys and they can be kept with gravel although gravel can harm their barbels which they use to find food. They definitely prefer a sandy bottom. And as a general rule danios and tetras are fine together although danios are sometimes nippers as are some species of tetras.
Kuhli loaches are cute little fish but you wouldn't see them much. I've had some for about 2 years and sometimes I'll go weeks without seeing them as they mostly stay hid during the day.
Most any bottom dwellers though prefer a sandy substrate as even though other fish may not have barbels like corys, the coarse gravel can still scratch them.
