Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I am clueless to which type of fish this is! It is labeled as a shovelhead catfish...but I do not believe that is right, and I'd like to see what you folks had to say. It is about 30 dollars at the fish store, here in the US. Sorry about the two bad quality pictures, but this is for a friend, and he sent them through his camera phone. He is hoping to buy this catfish, but he wanted to see if I could find anything on it. I haven't found anything, to be honest, and I was hoping you guys could help. Any info/suggestions would greatly be appreciated! Thank you

I know the pictures aren't very clear, so I was hoping to get more pretty soon. Is that an almost positive ageneiosus? From the pictures online of them, they are pretty grey/red. And this is a greyish brown. Thanks again!

Hi
I'd agree it does look like an Ageneiosus, though there appears to be only one picture of A.pardalis over on PlanetCatfish. According to PC, if it's a.pardalis, then you are looking at a fish with an adult size of 17", which to be fair is about the average size for other Ageneiosus. They will obviously be predatory to anything they can fit in their mouths, though, like other Ageneiosus, should be quite active as long as it's got space and some cover.
Would love to see more pics...

Thank you. It's for a friend, and he's looking to get a rather large tank for it. Not sure if he wants it though, we were just making sure we had somewhat of an idea of how large it would get, and about 20" was my guess. Hopefully that's right : ) Thanks guys
