i have this green caterpiller like thing on the bottom of my tank and has been there for the last 4 hours and happy as a bug, do these exist in tanks??

It could of been a caterpillar that fell in so take it out. I have never heard of caterpillar like things in tanks, unless it is a marine tank?

:good:

well he seemed better in the tank for the past 5 hours that i have been watching him than out, hmmmm stuped

Ive got them too. Apart from they are on the inside of the tank hood. Its kind of disgusting actually. I don't know what they are though.

right, ya i have a lil salt in to help the tank along, but not enough to class it a "marine", not quite getting where your coming from sorry

Edit: ps nice fish

dawie, Andy is saying tropical means warm water 23c+ where as marine means with a salinity of 1.02 and over I think but you have fresh water?

does it look like this? (except its green?)

One time I bought some live plants at my LPS. I started noticing that every day there would be pieces of the plants floating in my tank. Finally, whole sections of the plants seemed to be falling off. I blamed it on the fish for the longest. Then, one day I saw a tiny yellow catepillar about 1.5cm long munching on my plants!!! I removed the catepillar and found a couple more several days later. I have no clue what they were...but, obivously it was a type of catepillar that could live underwater. :/

its a caterpillar slug lol. It can live underwater. There are some aquatic slugs that will munch on your aquarium plants. But don't try putting garden slugs in because they will drown.
