Case Of A Missing Neon!

Up until last water change I had 4 Neons in the tank.

Then I got home today and now only have 3. I took everything out of the tank to look for it but it's done a Houdini and vanished.
Based on my fish currently in there, would any have eating the poor little bliter??

Feeling very said if I actually took him out during either my Gravel Vac which goes straight in the kitchen sink or that I may have taken him out with the litre container during my water change late last night.

Geee only 40 and loosing my mind and my eye sight already??

Hope it was'nt me............feeling guilty...........

neons are notoriously weak and virtually any fish will eat a dead body of another fish, chances are he's died and been eaten.

keep a v close eye on your tank for signs of disease

yeah seriously like 99% of fish will eat the dead body of one of they're companions given half a chance.

how tight fitting is your lid... fish jump sometimes so he could have jumped out of the tank, check around that area for a shrivelled up neon

Oh I had a problem like this not too long ago. One day I woke up and noticed that I only had 3 danios in my tank. We looked everywhere in that 28gallon tank for the missing one. We moved all of the fake plants, moved the vase decoration.. everything.. and it was absolutely nowhere to be found. It couldn't have gotten sucked into the filter b/c the holes in the tube that sucks up the water are too small. It couldn't have jumped out... it was just gone.
Then the next day... who do I see in the tank?? Yep... it's the missing danio acting like nothing had happened!
I still have no idea to this day where it hid.

As for the lid.........no chance...my 3 year old cant even lift it.............just had my wife look for it tonight as well.........she 10 minutes and we only have 3 things in the tank........no sign of Neon....

Wow...........how do i explain this to my smarty pants 7 year old son..........
