I've been thinking of getting a carpet plant for a little while now and have a few options:

1. Glossostigma Elatinoides
2. Sagittaria Lileopterus
3. Marsilea Crenata

All are said to grow between 2 to 4cm, and spread well. But I think I favour the Marsilea Crenata (dwarf 4 leaf clover). Has anyone grown or is growing this little plant? Does it stay at 4cm? Or has anyone got any other suggestions?

Ech. Tenellus?... fine leaf... throws runners 2" high on average (may be a little too tall for what you want)...

Or has anyone got any other suggestions?

Elatine triandra:

The dwarf clover is a great little carpetting plant...and MUCH faster to take hold than Glosso (at least with medium light and a good level of CO2)...I used both and have some piccies on here somewhere - I'll try to find the post and give you a link.

no sooner said than done ;)

Sorry to be annoying i meant if you got the link where u got it online.

Cool.
how high does yours grow? By the pictures it looks like some bits grow tall, while most stays small. If that's the case, it will look better than I was thinking.

the longer bits you can see were the stems that came from Greenline. I found the growth rapid, and generally stayed lower than the original plants, at a guess the average height would be 1.5 to 2 cms....this may be because it was under higher light?

E. triandra is a creeping plant. It stays low. Just trime anything that grows too high and it grows back denser and more creepier. Replant the cuttings.

It likes lots of light, lots of CO2 and lots of Nitrates.

I havent' seen it online for sale ever, I got some from a guy on another forum. When mine has sufficiently grown out I'll pass some on.

Greenline does it in 'packs' of 5 at £2 each, I bought three of these and it was more than enough to get it established. I have actually taken delivery of some today, and compared to the first batch I ever recieved, is in much better condition. If your in no immediate rush, I am more than happy to pass some on to you once it's re-established (I'm having to pretty much start from scratch again - long story - will update original tank thread some time soon).

Either way, let us know how you get on with it! It's a really great little plant.

Just placed an order for some. :D
Plus a couple of other plants, so I can't wait until next weeek.
