I bought some plants for my new aquanano 30 (22 litres) that the lady in the shop would be fine with my lighting. My lighting is a '9w PL', not sure what that means, is that okay? It doesnt look that bright. I have used the Fluval Stratum shrimp substrate. I dont have any CO2 or any fertilisers.

The plants I have are Amazon Sword, Clinopodium brownei and Cabomba aquatica. I'm not usually very good with plants, but I want to make a planted nano, although these are just for starting with, but I'm a proper plant newbie. Can anyone share tips on their care and whether they will be okay in my tank? Also, the cambomba doesnt have roots, will it grow some?

Hi
your lighting should be fine for the Amazon sword & Cabomba.Sorry i don't know anything about the 3rd plant.
The Fluval is soil based and has some nutrients in it, it will also lower your PH if your water is neutral or above.Over time it will soak up nutrients which will then be released when needed.
The sword might have some leaves die back at first, if it's a new plant (whilst it changes from emmersed to submersed growth)
Just plant the Cabomba stems in 2's or 3's, they will regrow roots.I've always found it to be hit or miss to grow. Some people can, some can't grow it.Don't know if this is down to differing water chemistry or water temperature.
Hope this helps.
