 I found a dead cardinal the other day in my trigon 190. The back half of his body had rot away. Now I have another still alive but looks like his body is rotting just in front of his tail fin. Also my angel fish has an eye swollen. I normally do 20% water change weekly. Done 40% change yesterday. Advise on treatment needed and anything else I can do. Will do water tests after work. I have 4 clown loachs in this tank so worried about treatment.

hi
can you get to your lfs - myxazin is a good finrot/and other bacterial infection med you can get in the uk. it may be worth getting in some pimafix as well (also anti bacterial) myxazin is safe to use on loaches, ive used it a few times over the years and we have yoyo loaches & khulis in our big tank.

on another subject id be careful with angelfish & cardinals in the same tank, angelfish will sometimes attack & eat smaller fish like cardinals ( angels are a species of cichlid )

good luck with treating :)

Ok thanks for advise. Got to LFS before they shut and got Myxazin and pimafix. I will add to aquarium now.

Looks like I lost another cardinal. Angel fish eye completely White and bolging out.

Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How many fish and which type.

Ammonia 0 ..........Nitrite 0 ...........Nitrate 10 ppm ............PH 7.4

Fish : 2 angel fish.........4 cardinal tetras.........4 clown loach (small)........1 sailfin pleco (6").......6 silver tipped tetras ...........1 guppy

Have you added a bacterial med.

I've added myxazin. The missing cardinal is back and eating, he must have been hiding. Angel fish eye is no worse. Myxazin is a 5 day treatment and today is day 3. All other fish are looking well.

If no improvement in a few more days I would switch meds to anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
You would need to do a water change and run some black carbon to get the myxazin out of the tank.

Update. My angel fish eye is still cloudy but the swelling has gone, cardinals look ok. I think I will do a water change and treat with either milafix or pimafix. Or should I do another 5 day treatment of myxazin?

Is the eye really cloudy.

I would do another round of myxazin or get some anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

My angel fishes eye hasn't got better  . I'm going to move him into a small tank on his own and treat with a different product. Any ideas on what treatment I should try?
