Carbon

Hi cane76 :)

I agree with piper.

I never use carbon in my filters except to remove medicine. It's not necessary and I consider it to be just another unnecessary expense. I add some filter floss in the place where carbon would normally be kept to provide additional surface area for the beneficial bacteria to cling to. That seems the most cost effective way to fill my filters. :D

carbon is good if you use bogwood and dont want that brownish tint from it, also good if your water clarity cant get up to scratch.

I used it in my discus tank in my fluval 3 with each compartment in the uplift tube alternating between floss and carbon - worked a treat in 1 day!
