Carbon Foam Pads

New to the forum! Soo Hello All

I have a F-Box 64l With an Interpet PF2 Filter.
I know they aren't the best buts its my starter kit sort of speak lol..
A friend of a friend told me to remove the carbon foam pad and replace it with
a regular foam pad.. I haven't done that as I wanted to check first..

Any help much appreciated

the carbon just locks up some chemicals and only lasts until its full which isn't very long

I a newbie as well and been told by various members that the pads only last about 3 days, i've changed mine to an ordinary filter sponge and my tank seems to be doing fine.

I'd say that's good advice.

As already mentioned, carbon loses its effectiveness quite quickly, and TBH isn't really needed for day to day running anyway.

So remove the carbon, store it somewhere safe (you might need it for something specific further down the line), and replace it with another sponge.

Ta much! I'll be doing a water change tomoz so I'll replace it then
